All messages in Inbox lost :-(

What email client are you using? What distro?
Have you tried another email client to see if it is on the server side 
or the client side?
I had the same thing happen using a default install of MDK10 and the 
MDK10 version of kontact. I had to go in and delete my index files 
inside my $HOME/.Mail directory, after that all my mail magically 
reappeared ; )
I hope your problem is as simple.
