Hi Georg
i don t think it is good to have two ways and each loose energy for the same thing.
If Syncroton is more well ok , better to coordonate our efforts and experiences on
one project than two

It is not being abandoned, and there has been communication, as well.
You're fully invited to work with us to make Z-Push work against Kolab 3.0, as
well, but it makes sense to have another option for a variety of reasons:
- The proprietary development model of Z-Push
- The lack of proper development process of Z-Push
(demonstrated among others by new features even in beta releases)
- The sometimes not satisfying code quality in Z-Push
- The lack of modularity that does not easily allow to adjust to
different backends
Instead, we've begun working with the Tine 2.0 community that like us wants to
have a proper Free Software stack and has agreed to develop Syncroton (spun
out of their ActiveSync stack) collaboratively and as a truly independent Open
Source project.
So we're giving it a spin to see how this could work for Kolab.
Always evaluating components to see which ones work best is part of
responsible maintainership, and ultimately for the benefit of the entire Kolab
community.
That said I hope you'll also work on a Z-Push backend for Kolab 3.0.
Best regards,
Georg
