New submission from Sascha Wilde <wilde at intevation.de>:
Thomas reported this already in Issue1166 (more than 2 years ago!):
Kontact/kmail displays all parts of multipart/alternative MIME-Parts
simultaneously, just as if it were multipart/mixed.[0]
Besides violating the semantics defined in RfC2046 this is quite
problematic for example with Invitations generated by the Horde web
client (see attached Example):
The relevant part (the rendered vCal Object) is way down the display,
while the URLs of the alternative plain text part are quite prominent
above -- this could lead users to use them, even though they are only
intended as last resort for recipients who don't have a Kolab enabled
client.
Having Horde integrated as web-client in the stable Kolab-Server
releases I consider this issue urgent.
Tested with:
Kontact Version 1.2.9 (enterprise35 20081118.886071)
cheers
sascha
[0] The only exception I found during my tests is
mutlipart/alternative with text/plain and text/html, where Kontact
refuses to display the html part for security reasons (which is
good!). Once the user allows to display the html-part there is no
way to get the original display (text/plain in mail context) back
-- but this is just another minor issue...
