[Kolab-devel] [issue3229] Toltec connector makes encrypted messages unusable for other MUA's

New submission from Albrecht Dreß <albrecht.dress at lios-tech.com>:

When the Toltec connector reads a RFC 3156 (multipart/encrypted OpenPGP)
message, it stores it back to the IMAP folders in a format which is not
parseable any more by RFC 3156-aware clients (tested with Balsa,
<http://balsa.gnome.org>, which is fully RFC 3156 compliant).

The original MIME message structure

multipart/encrypted; protocol="application/pgp-encrypted"
  +-- application/pgp-encrypted
  +-- application/octet-stream

is converted into

multipart/mixed
+-- text/plain (containing Empty text body)
  +-- application/pgp-encrypted (with a crazy filename added)
+-- application/octet-stream (also with a crazy filename, plus
  | charset="iso-8859-1"???)
  +-- application/x-toltec-tnef-1

The last part seems to contain the parts of the original message
(checked/extracted with tnef).

I have no idea why Toltec re-arranges the message - if they would just leave it
"as is" when tey store it back, Outlook simply could co-exist with standard (and
standard-compliant!) MUA's accessing the IMAP store!
