Do you mean a full replacement of the cyrus server including acl and 
annotation support?  Would that result in an imap server that does not need 
to be patched.  Currently with cyrus the patch situation is rather hopeless:

If so (no patches to be applied) I'm very much looking forward to dovecot as 
the imap server for kolab!
