Hi Fabio,
thanks for the question. I guess it makes sense discussing this in a
wider circle.
Setting the gpg binary path to /usr/bin/gpg (and thus referring to a
gpg installation in the distribution *surrounding* /kolab) instead of
/kolab/bin/gpg *within* the /kolab OpenPKG environment means that
Horde will try to use gpg from the native environment.
This has one advantage: We don't need to add another package (and its
possible dependencies) to the server. This means we also don't have to
bother too much about security updates concerning that package.
It also has drawbacks: If the admin did *not* install gpg in the
surrounding environment, the feature will still get displayed as
available but fails on usage. That is suboptimal.
In the end there are three possibilities:
- using gpg within /usr/bin/gpg and adding instructions that the
admin should install the package in the native environment
surrounding /kolab if Horde should be able to use the associated
features.
- adding gpg to the server and thus providing the features for
horde. No special configuration necessary.
- disabling the feature at first and just add instructions on adding
the package to either the OpenPKG environment or the surrounding
environment.
Comments?
Cheers,
Gunnar
