[Kolab-devel] Kolab Format specs/Kontact: Question about custom folder types

Hi!
Once again I'm confused by the Kolab format specification
(http://kolab.org/doc/kolabformat-2.0rc5-html/c154.html#AEN157)
The format specification says that
"All folders MUST be annotated with an entry /vendor/kolab/folder-type
containing the attribute value.shared set to: <type>[.<subtype>]"
"The <type> can be: mail, event, journal, task, note, or contact."
Two paragraphs further the text continues with
"For other client-specific non standardized types of folders, these
MUST be prefixed with "k-" for KMail, "h-" for Horde, "o-" for Outlook
with the Toltec Connector and "ok-" for Outlook with the KONSEC
Konnektor. E.g. "kolab.o-voicemail"."
Here "kolab" seems to an allowed <type> entry with a <subtype> entry
that is more or less free but has to be prefixed with a client id.
Am I allowed to do such a thing and actually declare client-specific
non standardized types of folders?
>From the recent discussion on the format list I assumed that I'm
allowed to declare the new folder type "kolab.h-prefs" for Horde.
Locally I'm also using the gollem file manager for storing files in
IMAP-folders as e-mail attachments - actually quite convenient :)
These folders currently have the internal folder type: "kolab.h-file"
Now I noticed that Kontact enterprise simply rewrites these unknown
folder types to "mail" which of course makes me unhappy :) I assume it
would also overwrite the folder type "kolab.h-prefs".
Can someone clarify if it is intended to have custom folder types or
not and whether a client should rewrite anything it does not know to
"mail"?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Gunnar
