I added a new patch directory on the server now:

http://kolab.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs-kolab.cgi/server/patches/

It contains a commented set of patches we currently use on the Kolab
server. I hope this will make it a lot easier for packages to
understand what we are doing there.

Did that. I hope they include them.

Certainly not if I want to continue to offer Kolab2/Gentoo. OpenPKG is
currently pointing directly into the php package definition I use on
Gentoo and this needs to contain the patch.
