I just gave a quick glance at the code the project uses. This is not
modular at all and requires the use of a postgresql db in the
background. If it would allow to switch the backend against something
using IMAP folders it might make sense.

But then again the Horde roadmaps
(e.g. http://www.horde.org/kronolith/roadmap/) already mention CalDAV
support. I admit I did not check the current state or what is planned
but to me that sounds more promising. Especially since the Horde code
excels in modularity.
