Dear list,
as mentioned before the current Kolab code uses an older Horde
version. I did work towards updating Kolab to the newest Horde code
(http://wiki.kolab.org/index.php/Horde).
This project is nearly finished now. There are only a few patches
necessary to get Kolab specific fbview functionality ported to current
horde but the larger part of this has also been done.
Now I am considering the options for getting this into Kolab CVS.
It is certainly impossible to integrate these larger changes into the
current release process. This makes only sense after Kolab-2.1 has
been released and can be considered stable.
Nevertheless I would like to test the new code as much as somehow
possible before integrating it into the Kolab code base. So I need to
release some OpenPKG packages for it and I wanted to ask for your
opinion on how to do this.
There will be changes necessary on kolab-horde-framework,
kolab-horde-fbview, kolab-resource-handlers and kolab-webadmin.
To have the horde code within kolab-horde-framework and
kolab-horde-fbview won't be necessary anymore. Both packages can use
upstream tarballs once those have been released.
kolab-resource-handlers and kolab-webadmin will only see minor
patching to adapt them to the new libraries.
So I think I could either create a new branch within kolab-cvs or I
create two new experimental packages horde-framework and horde-fbview
(or horde-kronolith) and modify my patches for the
kolab-resource-handlers and kolab-webadmin so that they will work with
both the new and the old horde code base.
Any other suggestions?
I would welcome your comments.
Thanks!
Gunnar
