[Kolab-devel] Kolab patches in OpenPKG

Hi!

With Kolab-Server-2.2 all of the Kolab patchs mentioned on
http://wiki.kolab.org/index.php/Kolab-major-app-patches were included
upstream in the OpenPKG package definitions.

I was slightly unhappy about this since it will be hard for people
that want to maintain a native port of Kolab to figure out which
patches are required for the Kolab server components if they do not
find these in Kolab CVS. Granted, they are all in the wiki so it
should be okay.

Now I had to look at the OpenPKG PHP package definition for other
reasons today and got surprised by the following line:

Patch2: http://projects.pardus.de/kolab/browser/ebuilds-2.1/dev-lang/php/files/php-5.2.2-kolab.patch?format=raw

I don't consider it good practice if the Kolab specific patches are
just grabbed from any webserver on the net. Okay, it is the p at rdus
server :) but it seems strange nevertheless. For an outsider it might
be very hard to determine what this patch is about.

So I would like to suggest to continue to keep the required patches
within the Kolab CVS directory and request upstream (OpenPKG) to
change the download location. We could have a special "server/patches"
directory and keep the patches including a version mark in there.

Cheers,

Gunnar
