I hope that Steffen can elaborate on the significance of these
changes. Though the change has actually been applied quite a while
back. So this might be difficult. 

Since I am running several servers with the patched code versions I
might also be able to determine at some point if the issue associated
to these modifications still persists. But this might still take a
while.

In any case I am not going to send a patch upstream to Horde but look
for fixes on the Kolab side of things.
