[Kolab-devel] The annotations.db problem...

Hi all,

I stumbled across issue 840 (possible corruption of annotations.db) more
or less by accident (shouldn't something as critical as this be mentioned
on the home page?) and installed the backup script provided in CVS. Sure
enough, about two weeks later I got my first warnings about a corrupt
annotations.db, twice in 72h. In both cases I replaced annotations.db with
the last known good one before and I will switch the server from HT/SMP to
UP a.s.a.p. now, but I'm still curious:

- I noticed that after the corrupt annotations.db occurs, the following
backups all show working annotations.db, i.e. I see one corrupt one
only. If I look at the files with "strings", I see the same information
(or even more) in annotations.db created after the corrupt one. Is this
  to be expected?

- What *is* the actual impact of annotations.db being corrupted? What
  could be possible symptoms?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas
