I moved new mails from posteingang to a subfolder and synced. On syncing all 
mail get marked as read. Each mail gets displayed in the message window and 
gets marked as read.  
 
To reproduce try do the following: 
 
1. fresh user (kolab/no .kde) 
2. configure user by using kolabwizard. choose only dimap. 
3. start kontact and sync. folders get created. 
4. create subfolder under Posteingang. Sync 
5. Send 100 new mails to the user. 
6. Sync an receive mails. 
7. Select all mails (strg-a) and drag them into the subfolder 
8. sync 
 
Now one message after the other gets displayed on the message window and gets 
marked as read.
