Dieter, thanks for your hints. I think I will have to adjust my pre-import 
scripts a bit further, so I can need the fast import via slapadd. :-)

Memory is no problem so far. Our production server is a dual Xeon 2,8 GH with 
about 4 GB RAM. So I don't have to care for 10 or 20 MB while I am picky 
about CPU load (resmgr and amavis incl. virus scanner and spamassassin 
consume a lot of CPU).
