Just to let you know...

I used your workaround (modify obmtool.conf to remove 
/lib/libpthread.so.0 while running the bootstrap) and that did it. No 
other update was required for installing kolab from 
ftp://ftp.zfos.org/brew/kolab/SRC/kolab-20040217-2.0.0/
