I say go for it then - it *should* work.

You can reference a post that I made a week or so ago that explained how I 
integrated the configuration mechanisms into other programs (mailman, jabber, 
amavis, spamassassin)  It's found at 
http://intevation.de/pipermail/kolab-devel/2004-March/000969.html

You might be able to glean enough off that to figure out how to integrate 
dbmail into Kolab - and to remove Cyrus.
