Not that I am aware of for Samba and the account management.
Adding this to the schema sounds like an LDAP exercise to me.
Kolab2 will have some sort of groups at least for distribution lists and ACLs. 
I assume you have read the Kolab2 concept draft in CVS?

Yes there are wishes for it.

There is chance for this.
Currently the most active Kolab people are from the Proko2 contract,
we could use more help with points that are not directly related to Proko2,
but help Kolab in other ways. It is important that this code is stable
and maintained, though. If we accept changes that we cannot support
for a while it would be bad for Kolab IMO.
