I don't understand what you mean?
I can't remember how it's done in Outlook (I never tried), but in KMail,
you choose the Tools->Edit "Out of Office" Replies menu item. This will
install a script on the server that sends vacation mails. And it does not
answer to mailing lists and only once to individuals.
