Professional Training and Certification for the Kolab Groupware Solution
Kolab Systems AG and OpenSource Training Ralf Spenneberg partner up for the
creation of a professional training and certification program for the Free
Software Kolab Groupware Solution. First courses and certifications will be
available in autumn 2010.
The Kolab Groupware Solution provides an interoperable, open and fully Free
Software based approach to Personal Information Management (PIM) for
organizations of any size. Thanks to its hyper-modularity, Kolab's core
groupware functionality of email, calendaring, contacts and task management
can be integrated into a variety of scenarios and solutions. Kolab provides
this in a variety of environments and platforms, including GNU/Linux,
Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, including in mixed client environments.
Kolab Systems AG is the newly re-launched backbone of the Kolab Enterprise
Community, a network of companies providing professional support, integration
and other services around the Kolab Groupware Solution. To ensure highest
levels of quality for customers, training and certification will be provided
for administrators, help desk operators and users of Kolab. These courses and
hands-on tests will be developed specifically by OpenSource Training Ralf
Spenneberg in close cooperation with Kolab Systems AG and its partner
companies.
„Kolab is a mature solution that has been in production for more than five
years. So we were naturally aware of successes as well as problems, and our
analysis showed that often problems were related to a lack of awareness for
the elegant way to solve some of the advanced scenarios the Kolab Groupware
Solution offers,“ explains Georg Greve, CEO of Kolab Systems. „With the
training and certification we now employ proven methods to distribute the
knowledge of best practices and practical experience in the field and ensure
that customers have meaningful criteria to choose between different providers.“
The first Kolab administration classes and certifications are planned for autumn
2010. These classes and exams are conducted by OpenSource Training Ralf
Spenneberg. „We are developing practical exams. The students need to
demonstrate the ability to install, configure and troubleshoot the Kolab
Groupware Solution to pass the exam. This garantees the high level of the
exam.“ states Ralf Spenneberg. „Students may take the exam without attending
the training class. Thus skilled administrators, knowing Kolab, can directly
become certified.“
