<div>Hi!<br>
<br>
</div>
In our organization we would like to migrate to Kolab from
the ancient FirstClass. Since we have a large number of
users, we would like to move them a small number at a time.
This is the scenario:<br>
<br>
</div>
<div>1. We would like to forward a select number of mailboxes
to the Kolab server which is created with the domain: <a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://domain.com">domain.com</a>.<br>
</div>
<div><br>
2. We therefore create a subdomain <a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://kolab.domain.com">kolab.domain.com</a>
with a separate MX record<br>
</div>
<div><br>
3. We setup a rule in FirstClass to forward mail to <a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="mailto:name@kolab.domain.com"><a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:name@kolab.domain.com">name@kolab.domain.com</a></a><br>
</div>
<div>Kolab <-------------------- FirstClass <---
Internet<br>
<a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://kolab.domain.com">kolab.domain.com</a>
<- <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://domain.com">domain.com</a><br>
<br>
4. The mail is forwarded and put in the users' Kolab mailbox<br>
</div>
<div><br>
5. The user responds to the email and get the sender address
<a moz-do-not-send="true" href="mailto:name@domain.com">name@domain.com</a><br>
<br>
6. The mail gets sent via Postfix in a smart host config
through the original server.<br>
</div>
<div>Kolab---------------------> FirstClass<br>
</div>
<div><a moz-do-not-send="true" href="mailto:user@domain.com">user@domain.com</a>
-> <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="mailto:user@domain.com">user@domain.com</a> ->
Internet<br>
</div>
<div><br>
7. When all users are migrated, the domain <a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://kolab.domain.com">kolab.domain.com</a>
can be removed<br>
<br>
</div>
<div>My plan was to setup the Kolab-server as <a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://domain.com">domain.com</a>
and then add the <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://kolab.domain.com">kolab.domain.com</a>
subdomain. I've tried to do this but got an authentication
error for the <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="mailto:user@kolab.domain.com">user@kolab.domain.com</a>
user.. Is there something else I have to do than doing what
<a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://docs.kolab.org/howtos/multi-domain.html">https://docs.kolab.org/howtos/multi-domain.html</a>
says?<br>
<br>
</div>
<div>Kindest regards,<br>

Hi,<br>
<br>
I'm currently doing this with Exchange Server 2003. As a user is
moved to Kolab, exchnage is told to forward their email to
mail1.example.com. All incoming email goes to Exchange.<br>
<br>
When a user sends and email, it is automatically relayed to
Exchange. If the user being emailed resides on kolab, exchange uses
the existing forwarding. Other wise it keeps the mail locally, or
sends it out to the world as required.<br>
<br>
Once the users are all migrated, I'll change the postfix relay rule
back, and the firewall to send all emails to Kolab.<br>
<br>
I've done it for a single user now, and I'll be migrating a couple
of test users over next week.<br>
