That doesn't seem to be the problem. I did check to see whether the
correct number of files downloaded. There were 85.
I had recently done an install on my computer at home; it went just
fine, though I had a couple of bumps when I tried to add fetchmail.
There are a couple of differences between home and work installs. Both
are Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn,
server edition, but the one at work is the 64-bit version and the one
at home is the I386 version. Also, when I set up Ubuntu at work, I
opted to have it install DNS and LAMP, neither of which I set up at
home.
I'm now in the process of re-installing at work without DNS and LAMP,
and I'm going to take in the kolab setup files that I used at home. If
that doesn't do it, I may switch to I386 in case that is the problem.

I'd guess that not all files downloaded. I downloaded the same set of
packages (ix86-debian3.1) from the same site via ftp (cli) for a debian
etch install and thus far all seems to be working perfectly.
Cheers,

I downloaded from belnet ftp (primarily because I know how to download
multiple files from ftp easily). More precisely, the version I selected
