Thank you for this idea, I think it sounds very good.
If I understand you right, what I would need to do is:
- I set up Kolab as IMAP mail server, what anyway I would want to do
- Currently the users have local mail in Outlook .pst that had been 
received via POP as well as mail that lives in their IMAP-folders at our 
internet provider. So I would just download the IMAP mail to their local 
folders inside their .pst
- Then I connect their Outlooks to our new Kolab IMAP mail server and 
move all mail from their local .pst to their IMAP folder on our new 
Kolab server

Correct? Sounds pretty straight forward and clean! If I got this right, 
than I think this would be the best solution for mail.
But how about the other elements such as contacts, calendar and tasks? 
Is there maybe a similar straight-forward solution for those, too?
