It would seem to me you're not using an encrypted connection. In kontact, you'll need to enter the correct settings (including password) in the "Advanced" Tab of the account configuration (Settings -> Kmail settings -> Accounts).

FQDN of my VM host is kolab.altsys.ru. Host is reacheable.
I've create Kolab user. His Unique identity (UID) is sukhin
Tried to use username "sukhin", kolab.altsys.ru:143 and kolab.altsys.ru:143 for incoming server and kolab.altsys.ru for outgoing server.

Got such error: "There may be problems with access to the server or by selecting a safe way to send user data to a server. Check your account settings and correct them if necessary."

Hello!

I'm newbie and may be I'm asking silly questions but please tell, how to connect local Kontact to Kolab3 server??

I've got Kolab3 installed on virtual machine (CentOS). All OK. I can access Kolab web control panel and Roundcube. Now I want to connect Kontact to Kolab.

I'm starting Kontact, then "Add calendar" and choosing Kolab Server (sorry, I've got russian version so I don't know exactly now this phrase looks in english version). There I must add IMAP source. And this is my problem. What I must to set up there?? What I must to write in "Incoming mail server" and "Outgoing mail server"?

PS sorry for my poor English...

There's no such thing as a silly question. However, there are plenty of silly answers :-).

If Kolab is up and running, you can enter its (fully-qualified) hostname as both the incoming and the outgoing server, i.e. the hostname of your VM. Kolab uses the submission port, so you use 587 as the port number for your outgoing server. Your incoming server might use port 993 with SSL/TLS (as mine does), but I think port 143 with STARTTLS is also possible. User name and password are what you entered when you created your user.

Cheers,
