Start from scratch

I want to take my already-running system, which is modified slightly from the
source distribution for apache and php, and reinstall from source to get the
system to a known state. I would like to retain all my data in the process.

Here's my idea. First, shut everything down then move my existing /kolab
directory out of the way. Recreate the /kolab directory and reinstall from
scratch.

After the install and bootstrap is done, shut everything down again and copy
over my previous /kolab/var directory into the new install. Fix any template
changes in /etc/kolab/templates and reconfigure. Restart.

I am expecting this to preserve all my email and other settings while having a
clean install to verify Horde works in absence of my changes.

And no, I don't have an extra server to do this on. This is a small volume
server run for less than 10 users.

Any input?
