Kolab 2.2 on (k)ubuntu 8.04 hardy x86_64

Perhaps the reason it doesn't work for me is...

I installed kubuntu 8.04 amd64 bit version using the alternate desktop 
installation CD(so I could get the KDE gui etc).
I think installed the linux-server package so its running the same kernel as 
ubuntu-server install.

Maybe the GCC installed is somehow different between kubuntu and ubuntu-
server... ?
