good guess, outlook can only handle invitations when they run through
the mail receiving code. So for the Kolab connectors it is a lot easier
to use this funcationality of Outlook, otherwise they would need to 
implement their own iTIP handling, which is difficult.

There is a build-in solution, for the user that wants to share
incoming emails: activate email delivery in the webinterface (as user).
This install a sive script that will deliver incoming email on the server
in a different folder that can be shared.
Note that invitations will not be delivered because they could not
be handled. So if you need to share incoming invitations you would need
a running Outlook or share a common secret for an account. :/
