Partially. Sharing events is a concept delivered by the kolab
server. You just create a shared folder with access permissions for
several people, so you can easily have calendars for a team of people.
Receiving invitations will also be handled by the kolab server. 

What you will not be able to do is to send invitations. That is not
implemented in thundeerbird and you'd need either kolab or outlook for
that.
