openldap does not start properly

Hi

I am trying kolab-2.0.1 on centos-4.
The build works fine,
but bootstrapping brings the following error:
prepare LDAP database...
temporarily starting slapd
Waiting for OpenLDAP to start
could not connect ldap server ldap://127.0.0.1:389/ at
/kolab/etc/kolab/kolab_bootstrap line 415.


I have found some notes about wrong entries in /etc/hosts ... and about
reinstaling db rpm's
but nothing helped.

ldap is running
tcp        0      0 localhost.localdomain:ldap 
*:*                         LISTEN      7346/slapd
root      7346  0.0  0.4 10216 3296 ?        Ssl  10:30   0:00
/kolab/libexec/openldap/slapd -h ldap://127.0.0.1:389/ -f
/kolab/etc/openldap/slapd.conf

but I am unable to connect to localhost 389
telnet localhost 389
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

selinux is disabled
no portfilter running

Does anyone has an idea how to solve that problem?
