The problem I had back then has been fixed in Kontact.  You may want to
try kontact with proko2 branch as described in
http://kolab.org/pipermail/kolab-devel/2005-May/003490.html

or use our rc1 tarball: kde-client/kdepim-3.3.proko2.0.rc1.tar.gz on any
of the mirrors.
