One possibility would be to rewrite the addresses.

I agree that it would be a worthwhile addition.
Rewriting this on the postfix level seems the most easiest thing I could think of,
also hacking of lmtp could help here.

Yes we can put stuff in the issue tracker
and also have a howto or hacks or contribution page.
