Question: Individual annotations vs One large annotation (conceptual riddle for the interested)

after reading the discussing from the 15th which is merely about
one single configuration annotation versus multiple configuration annotations
I suggest a third option, which has not been discussed to far:

Do not use annotations for saving configuration.
Use configuration Kolab IMAP objects [1] from KEP#9.
There is already an algorithm how to write them with multiple clients,
private setting can go into a configuration folder.
And we are getting independent from all the technical details
of METADATA and its implementation in various IMAP clients.
