Hi all,
during a phone call yesterday, Georg pointed out the RFC for METADATA allows
obtaining the annotations for a folder by wildcard. I have verified this to
also be available in the current ANNOTATEMORE draft implementation in Cyrus
IMAP 2.4.
This means that "old" clients unaware of new annotations associated with new
features / use-cases would still be able to obtain the annotations for said
new features, though not aware of the functional implementation of the
configuration values associated with the annotation.
That said, Georg and myself continue to deliberate on the topic of conflict
detection, where two features part of separate use-cases may both influence
folder display, folder contents display, folder generation, folder content
generation and/or other application behavior in some way that makes feature $x
mutually exclusive with feature $y.
Kind regards,
