You are right. 
They should have similiar provisions, though 
and we should help doing this.

I was thinking about this as well,
maybe kolabconf --version would be a good place as well.
Okay, but instead having a command, maybe a file which contains the version
nummer (and possible patchlevels and other "updates") as well
which then would be installed by Kolab Server/OpenPKG and Kolab Server/*.
