Yes, this patch will be necessary for the current kolab-resource-handler package.

Maybe you can also use the patch for the Gentoo version of php-5.1.6:

Not sure if it has been sent upstream. Martin should know.

The getacl patch is a backport that is already included in php5. But
the imap_status function is something that is also missing form php5.
