[Kolab-devel] [issue1536] Invitations forwarded by Outlook 2003 are not standard conform

New submission from Bernhard Herzog <bh at intevation.de>:

This issue was part of kolab/issue665. To summarize:
When forwarding an invitation with Outlook 2003, Outlook creates a new mail with
an ical part which is missing the required OGANIZER field. When such a
forwarded mail is opened in Kontact, Kontact offers the usual buttons, but when
one clicks on e.g. [Accept], Kontact cannot send the reply because it doesn't
know where to send it. Instead one gets an error message:

Failed iTIP restrictions for ORGANIZER property.
Expected 1 instances of the property and got 0

The fix for kolab/issue665 contains a partial workaround. If from header checks
are activated in the server and the from header doesn't match the envelope
sender, the invitation mail gets rewritten and part of that is the insertion of
the ORGANIZER property. However, to be a full solution to the problem, the
ORGANIZER insertion would have to be done always, and not just when the From
header is problematic.

Of course, since this is an interoperability problem between clients, maybe it
should be solved in the clients, not the server. Kontact could for instance be
modified to cope with the missing ORGANIZER by using the From address from the
email when determining where to send the ical reply.
