Administrating a mixed Kolab2/Toltec/Kontact environment I see one major    
advantage in using Outlook: Interweaving of different kinds of information.   
By attaching a link to some contact to a calendar item (eg. a birthday), I can   
efficiently "browse" to that contact. It's also nice being able to link   
contacts together (eg. some kind of relationship).   
Browsing the kolab format specification I can't find any reference on how that   
kind of information may be stored. Has this already been discussed?   
   
Maybe the uid could be used to reference other kolab items, dn for referencing  
ldap items?
