The zfos packages seem to include openldap-2.2.5 (a pretty broken release
of the experimental branch of openldap). AFAIK, the simple paged extension
is only implemented in openldap-2.2.x, if your other LDAP server was
running 2.1.x (or earlier), Outlook would not try and use the extension
(because it would notice it is not supported).

You may try the latest openldap-2.2.x release (2.2.7 I think), or a stable
release of openldap (2.1.25).

For example, one way of doing this is running:
# urpmi kolab-server
on Mandrake 10.0
