Hi there,
I'm glad to say that, during this past week, little to no new bugs have
been logged against Kolab 2.4. I sure hope that is because less people
run into less issues.
Thanks to the work of Niko Berger, we're very pleased to tell you this
week has also seen the release of SyncKolab, version 2.0.0, now
integrating Thunderbird as a Kolab Groupware client yet even better. A
configuration dialog overhaul should make it easier for people to set up
Thunderbird as the client.
For a HOWTO on using Thunderbird with the SyncKolab extention, please
see the HOWTO Niko Berger has posted on www.kolab.org[1];
Furthermore, with an eye on Kolab 3.0, it may interest you to learn
that this week has also seen a 0.5.0 release of libkolabxml[2], which
now supports event delegation, and attendee CU types, among other
things, used with Kolab 3.0 features outlined below. Work on libkolab is
also progressing, but has not seen a release this week.
In other interesting developments, if I may say so myself, Kolab 3.0's
Resource Management[3,4,5] solution is taking shape. The multi-process
daemon implemented (Wallace) is currently sufficiently fast to parse 100
new reservations in 234 seconds, against a small deployment with 12
individual resources divided over 2 resource collections, and with
individual resources having been reserved for about 300 events each
(over a timespan of 4-5 months). Read the blog post [4] for more
information and feel free let us know of your ideas.
Kind regards,
Jeroen van Meeuwen
